Last weekend marked the start of the Women’s Rugby World Cup! Head and neck injuries are common in the sport, presenting significant physical and mental health issues both in the short and the long term. But did you know that in traumatic head injuries athletes may exhibit faster symptom recovery times than patients from other cohorts, regardless of age, sex or mental health history? In this study, patients from the emergency department and inpatients were compared to sports-related concussion injuries relative to the degree of injury, and their recoveries were tracked.

Distinct symptom recoveries based upon highest level of care in patients with sport-related concussion or traumatic brain injury and Glasgow Coma Scale 13–15
